The U.S. Department of State and Department of Commerce hosted a roundtable on December 12th, 2018, in Washington, D.C. at the Department of Commerce. The main objective of the roundtable was to strengthen public-private partnerships promote an open and trusted internet in emerging global markets, as well as to expand access to the internet. Our CEO, Andrew Beard, participated on the roundtable and the purpose of the discussion was to focus on open and free internet and how to connect more people to the internet, especially those in rural, poor and undeserved communities. Vanu, and other members of the panel, are committed to advancing an open internet, and will work with partner counties to adopt policies and regulatory positions that foster and encourage open, interoperable, reliable and secure internet. Other organizations represented at the roundtable were USAID, Export-Import Bank, OPIC and the USTDA.
